Scottish power-pop band Aerial return with their infectious third album “Activities of Daily Living”.

Produced by Duncan Cameron (Travis, Teenage Fanclub) and recorded at Riverside Studios, Glasgow during 2022, the album delivers 11 new tracks of Aerial’s signature smash-and-grab power-pop. Confident and self-assured, this is the sound of a band back at their revved-up best.

The album will be released 5 April 2024 on Flake Sounds (Japan) on limited edition 12” eco-mix coloured vinyl and streaming sites in all territories.

“This album was conceived over lockdown” says singer / songwriter Colin Cummings. “Like everyone, we were stuck in a cycle of eat, sleep, work, repeat - our activities of daily living”. To break the cycle, Colin and Mackie Mackintosh began writing and exchanging demos until they were certain they had the new album. The band then quickly assembled and headed to Riverside to work once again with Duncan Cameron and with whom they recorded their debut, Back Within Reach, over 20 years previously.

Activities of Daily Living successfully captures the energy, pop hooks and West Coast harmonies for which the band are renowned. Lead single Hollywood Ghosts is an epic, vocal-laden and unashamedly radio-friendly hit in the making, while Pixelated Youth documents tales of video-game obsession (with more than a nod to the work of Shigero Miyamoto, the Nintendo mastermind). Throw in the Cobra-Kai-influenced parable of I Bet You Know Karate (“if you’re knocked down seven times stand up eight”) and you have an album that grabs your attention, both musically and lyrically.

An ambitious return, Activities of Daily Living proves Aerial have lost none of their sense of youthful exuberance.
